How should we as Christians respond? Should we urge military intervention? Should we keep out of it, having burned our fingers in Iraq and Afghanistan? Surely something must be done to halt the appalling atrocities.
It seems to me, the best thing we as Christian must do is to pray. We must pray.
1) Pray that the Assad regime and rebel forces repent of their atrocities.
2) Pray for wisdom for our government and the Lord's sovereign lead in public opinion.
3) Pray for relief to come quickly to the misplaced and suffering people of Syria.
4) Give generously to Tear Fund and other relief agencies.
Brothers and sisters in Christ, it would be easy for us to criticise and form opinions, it could be easy to ignore the crisis and just get on with our lives. But many people are experiencing terrible suffering. Let us not fail to do what we can, we can pray, we should pray, we must pray.
